Shuttles Fort Blocks 1 - 4 Birkirkara FLAASK
Shuttles Fort Blocks made their debut in 2012 Mixed League with a balanced encounter with Birkirkara FLAASK where although all games were balanced and entertaining, Birkirkara FLAASK won the encounter 4 games to 1.
The first two games gave a 2-0 lead to Birkirkara FLAASK where in the first game Chris Spiteri/Grace Saliba lost 21-13 and 21-16 against Samuel Cali/Fiorella Sadowski. Although the latter had a continuous lead in the game, Spiteri/Saliba gave a challenge i every rally therefore. In the meantime in the Mens' Singles, Mark Briffa made Birkirkara FLAASK player Albert Bezzina struggle in an entertaining Singles game and lost 21-19, 21-8.
The next game gave the first win to Shuttles Fort Blocks when Juliette Gatt was superior to her opponent Klara O' Berg and won the encounter 21-13, 21-16. This encourages Juliette and Shuttles Fort Blocks players for future games.
With 3 games played and 2 to go and Birkirkara FLAASK having a lead of just a game, Shuttles Fort Blocks had their only hopes in winning the last 2 matches, the Mens' and Ladies' Doubles. The Mens' doubles saw George Camilleri/Chris Spiteri losing to Birkirkara FLAASK couple Albert Bezzina/Arif Rochman 21-18, 24-22 in a very balanced and entertaining game as the score suggests. It was a head to head match which saw the 2 couples making their utmost to win every point of the match but finally Birkirkara FLAASK had the upper hand.
The last game of the evening was the Ladies' Doubles in which Juliette Gatt/Grace Saliba lost their game to Birkirkara FLAASK couple Fiorella Sadowski/Klara O' Berg 21-13, 21-10, closing the whole encounter to a 1-4 loss for Birkirkara FLAASK.
