History

Shuttles Badminton Club was established in 1973. Our first president was Alex Casha, who kept this position till around 1980 when he was elected as the president of the Badminton Association of Malta. Our second president was Norman Spiteri. Norman served until 2007, interrupted for a few years by Edgar Formosa, who served for some time. Norman Spiteri returned as President of our club since Edgar Formosa could not keep up the commitment. Following the last Annual General Meeting held in September 2008, our new President is now Emmanuel Gatt.

The Club has always participated in the leagues and individual tournaments that Badminton Malta organises each year. Shuttles Badminton Club and its members have won several major titles including the National Men Singles Championship in 1990, 1994 and 1998 through Simon Spiteri. Simon has also won the National Men Doubles title in 1990 and 1991 with Kenneth Vella, and in 1993 and 1994 with David Cole.

Our club is currently represented in all the local competitions, both mixed and individual.
